Ms. Altman is a senior attorney with Emerzian Shankar Legal Inc. 

For the firm’s municipal clients, Ms. Altman provides city-sponsored eviction defense services, including direct representation of tenants in court.

For the firm’s business, non-profit, and education sector clients, Ms. Altman provides workplace and school investigation services, and advises on California-specific legal compliance.

Ms. Altman received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with honors and minor in Sociology from UC Santa Cruz. She then attended UC Los Angeles School of Law where she co-chaired the Environmental Law Society and participated in the Civil Trial Advocacy Experiential Clinic.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Altman worked as a staff attorney for a state-wide agency where she gained expertise in landlord-tenant law, and held various policy roles with environmental advocacy organizations.  Ms. Altman also worked for the Santa Cruz public defender’s office conducting investigations, including interviewing witnesses and preparing reports.

In her free time, Ms. Altman also volunteers her time with Interfaith Legal Services where she provides pro-bono services outside of ES Legal Inc. for the benefit of low-income communities within Tuolumne County. 

She also volunteered as a coach for Modesto High School’s Mock Trial Team, and volunteered as an attorney scorer at their county competitions.
